Produced for the exhibition "Knock on wood !" of the Musée Royal d’Afrique Centrale (B).
I went to the reserve of the museum which preserves thousands of species of wood stored such as books in cabinets , and taking up the idea of the title, I made recordings of various samples of wood, struck and rubbed with the hand. I asked Jean Bakadi, native of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, to tell the names of species in vernacular languages of his country.
Essences of wood used here are the bilinga, the boss, the dibétou, the fromager, the krokodua, the paddock and the tali.
